Birmingham Associate Taylor Johnson Wins NextGen Leaders Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — SEPTEMBER 24, 2025 — Taylor Johnson, an associate in Phelps’ Birmingham office, was selected for the Birmingham Business Journal’s NextGen BHM: Law Awards, which honor up-and-coming industry leaders under the age of 40.

Taylor is a litigator who defends clients in the railroad industry as well as contractors and business owners in construction, commercial and personal injury cases. His practice also includes medical malpractice defense. He is a member of the Birmingham office’s recruiting committee.

Outside the office,  Taylor helps Cumberland law students sharpen their Moot Court skills and has provided free ACT prep courses for high school students at his alma mater. He runs in several 5K races and participates in several Phelps-sponsored charitable events.

Honorees were selected based on their contributions to their companies, their role in the industry, the likelihood of them becoming a key leader in their field, and their role in the community. 

Taylor will join the other award recipients who will be recognized at an event on November 6.
