Kelsey Funes Elected Fellow of American College of Construction Lawyers
Phelps is proud to announce that Kelsey Funes, partner in the firm’s Baton Rouge office, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers (ACCL). The ACCL is a national organization of construction law leaders dedicated to excellence, ethics and the specialized practice of construction law.
Election to the ACCL is by invitation only and extended to lawyers who have demonstrated outstanding skill and high standards in both the practice and teaching of construction law. Fewer than 300 lawyers across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom have been elected as Fellows, making it one of the most prestigious recognitions in the field.
“I am grateful to be elected to this distinguished organization and join a group of professionals dedicated to improving the practice and understanding of construction law,” Kelsey said. “Fellowship will continue my focus on helping owners, contractors and design professionals manage disputes and contracts in today’s challenging environment, and I look forward to sharing those experiences while contributing to the ACCL’s mission.”
Kelsey regularly represents both plaintiffs and defendants in public and private construction disputes, including bid protests, claims for delay and inefficiency, construction defects and enforcement of payment and performance bonds. She advises on AIA, design/build and EPC contracts. She represents clients ranging from owners and contractors to design professionals in state and federal courts, arbitration and mediation across the Gulf Coast region. Kelsey also serves as a mediator and arbitrator in construction matters and is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Construction Industry Panel.
