National Law Journal Honors Phelps Partner Kelsey Funes as Construction Law Trailblazer
BATON ROUGE, La. — Sept. 6, 2022 — Phelps Partner Kelsey Funes was recognized as a 2022 Real Estate/Construction Law Trailblazer by the National Law Journal.
The journal is an industry-leading publication that recognizes construction law leaders from around the country. Kelsey was chosen for her long history working on some of the largest projects undertaken along the Gulf Coast.
Kelsey has built a successful construction practice representing owners and contractors in all phases of complex industrial and commercial construction projects. A well-respected mediator and one of the few female members of the American Arbitration Association’s Louisiana Construction Panel, her example and commitment to mentoring and educating young lawyers is moving the diversity needle in the construction industry.
Kelsey is a frequent speaker at a variety of construction-related seminars and briefings and recently served as co-chair of the American Bar Association’s 2022 Forum on Construction Law Annual Meeting in New York City.
Outside of law, she serves on the executive committee of the Center for Planning Excellence, a nonprofit promoting responsible growth and development, especially focused on addressing the impacts of climate change and poverty on Louisiana communities.
Kelsey and her fellow trailblazers were featured in the September/October issue of the journal, where Kelsey shared her journey to construction law and why diverse perspectives are essential to the future of the industry.
