Phelps Recognized as a Top Law Firm for Female Attorneys

NEW ORLEANS — Phelps Dunbar has been named one of the Top 100 Law Firms for Women by Women Inc. Magazine. The publication’s annual listing celebrates female representation and leadership with its "Top 100 Law Firms for Women" and "Top Women Corporate Counsel" special sections.

“We are pleased that Phelps has been selected as a top law firm for female lawyers,” said Katherine Karam, Phelps partner and founder and co-chair of the firm’s Women’s Forum. “We are proud to have created a progressive environment that allows all attorneys a pathway to succeed. We appreciate this distinguished recognition of our firm.”

More than 46 percent of Phelps associates are women in addition to nearly 20 percent of the firm’s partners. Karam and Phelps partner Susan Furr co-chair the firm’s Women’s Forum, which connects female attorneys inside the firm. Throughout the year, the group hosts events to help shape growth and provide support and networking opportunities.

The Women Inc. listing is an in-depth look at the most inclusive law firms when it comes to female representation, according to a Women Inc. press release. Firms were selected using survey data and criteria including prior recognition, recruitment and community outreach, and firm prominence.
