Josh has handled casualty and commercial matters ranging from auto collision claims to premises liability to multi-million dollar insurance coverage litigation.

He represents a broad client base including vessel owners, oilfield contractors, oil companies and their insurers on matters regarding personal injury and property damage. Josh has handled casualty and commercial matters ranging from auto collision claims to premises liability to multi-million dollar insurance coverage litigation.

Josh regularly advises insurance companies, corporate and individual clients, and insurance agents on insurance and contract matters, including the preparation of vessel charters and master service contracts. He has extensive insight into the Louisiana state appellate and the federal appellate courts gained from his experience serving as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Catherine D. Kimball, Associate Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court. Josh has extensive knowledge in arguing appeals, engaging in writ practice, and monitoring trials to assist trial counsel with preservation of issues for appeal and consults with clients regarding post-judgment relief and the potential viability of appeal following adverse judgments.

  • Obtained key ruling placing limits on extent of vessel owner’s duty to obtain emergency medical treatment for Jones Act seamen in Fifth Circuit.
  • Secured judgement in favor of tug owner in the case of alleged personal injury caused by excessive speed and wave wash.
  • Obtained dismissal of third-party defendant in offshore drilling rig collapse and sinking.
  • Representation of tug and barge owner in catastrophic bridge allision.
  • Successfully defended the owner of a vessel in complex property damage matter arising from allision of underwater sonar survey equipment with submerged drilling rig mooring line.
  • Obtained substantial recovery in defense of tug and barge interests in personal injury and property damage litigation arising from narrow channel vessel collision.
  • Obtained complete defense verdict in retaliatory discharge case against former commissioner of state agency.
