BATON ROUGE, LA — Gregory Reda, an associate in Phelps Dunbar’s Baton Rouge office and the Firm’s cybersecurity, privacy and data protection group, has earned a Certified Information Privacy Professional credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Founded in 2000, the IAPP is the largest and most comprehensive global information privacy community and resource.
The CIPP credential is recognized as the industry standard in information privacy. To earn the CIPP/US credential, which focuses on the U.S. private sector, candidates must demonstrate a foundational understanding of broad global concepts of privacy and data protection law and practice, including: jurisdictional laws, regulations and enforcement models; essential privacy concepts and principals; and legal requirements for handling and transferring data.
In his practice, Gregory counsels clients on international, federal and state data protection laws, such as the General Data Protection Regulation, California Consumer Privacy Act and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. He also handles a wide range of environmental matters involving regulatory compliance, permitting strategies, environmental site assessments and other due diligence, environmental contracts and litigation matters at both the state and federal level.
