Emily H. Smith is a member of the firm's Labor and Employment Practice Group.
She defends public and private employers and individuals in litigation involving employment discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, hostile work environment, constitutional law, and civil rights claims. She also advises employers on a broad range of employment issues, including compliance, workplace policies, and risk mitigation. Emily has experience researching and analyzing complex issues related to First Amendment rights, qualified immunity, and products liability.
Before joining the firm, Emily clerked for the Honorable Kristi H. Johnson of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi. During her clerkship, she drafted orders on various motions, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and motions in limine. She also managed the court's civil docket, and collaborated with fellow clerks on drafting orders.
While in law school, Emily served as Production Editor of the Mississippi College Law Review and was active in the Student Federal Bar Association, Dean's Ambassadors and the Women's Student Bar Association.
