    Maritza Sanchez primarily practices in the area of labor and employment law. Maritza counsels employers and organizations through all stages of litigation in state and federal courts throughout the country. She has experience handling claims of harassment, discrimination, wrongful discharge, retaliation and breach of contract.

    Maritza has litigated claims brought against employers under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and related state statutes. She has obtained summary judgment in discrimination cases for clients in federal courts. She also prepares and presents cases to mock juries before mediation or trial to provide clients with data-backed information to make important, strategic decisions.

    In addition to her litigation practice, Maritza counsels human resources professionals, in-house counsel and clients in all aspects of employment law, including:

      • Employee hiring, retention and termination
      • Internal investigations
      • Pre-suit claims resolution

    Maritza also assists domestic and international insurers and re-insurers in the London market on first-party coverage, complex coverage and policy interpretation, bad faith litigation, and breach of contract claims.

    Maritza previously represented insureds throughout the state of Texas in matters related to automobile liability, commercial motor vehicle liability, premises liability and construction defect claims. Maritza handled all stages of litigation, from researching, preparing motions, and attending hearings and mediation, to trials in state court. She has a strong track record of representing clients in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley and can speak, read and write in Spanish.
