    Hal West focuses primarily in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, commercial lending and related general and strategic business advice. Having grown up working in a medium size family business, he approaches issues from a business point of view, keeping clients grounded on the real issues of the matter. He believes in being responsive and available for his clients at any time needed, ready to offer guidance for finding solutions to difficult issues, such as:

    • Corporate governance
    • Dispute resolutions
    • Crisis management and strategic planning
    • Corporate activities and transactions

    From manufacturing and distribution to tech industries, Hal works to solve his clients’ problems and focus on the real issues of each matter, be that drafting and negotiation of a day-to-day contract or obtaining financing for their operations or to acquire new businesses.

    Hal leads the firm's business group in Birmingham and serves on its Opinion Committee.

    Hal regularly contributes to work with the Alabama State Bar and currently serves on the Charter and Fitness Committee. He’s a devoted father of four and outdoor enthusiast.

    Experience

    Hal regularly represents both public and private companies in a variety of matters with significant experience in real estate matters. He represented:

    • US based manufacturer and distributor in obtaining a syndicated, multimillion dollar revolving credit facility that featured a traditional asset-based credit facility and a eurocurrency component
    • Owners/management in sale of a 49% interest in the Company to a private equity firm during the COVID Pandemic
    • Downstream marketer & convenience retailer in the sale of its business to a large national chain during the COVID Pandemic
    • Borrower in a multi-million dollar first-in-first-out (FILO) revolving credit facility to enhance the company’s liquidity position during the COVID-19 pandemic
    • A trust in the sale of over 40,000 acres of timber land
    • A petroleum retailer in sale of over 120 petroleum distribution outlets and convenience stores to a large national chain
