Katie Myers serves as local, regional and national coverage counsel for domestic insurance companies. She counsels insurers, resolves coverage disputes, and litigates cases involving a wide variety of coverage issues, including those arising out of third-party liability claims concerning:

    • Automobile (garage, uninsured motorist, cargo) exposures
    • Construction defects
    • Directors and officers liabilities
    • Entertainment and event exposures
    • Environmental and toxic tort liabilities
    • Intellectual property-related liabilities
    • Professional exposures
    • Property losses
    • Racing and competitive sports liabilities

Katie’s experience extends to issues of multiple-year trigger and allocation, additional insured and contractual indemnity, and extracontractual liability.

Insurers regularly call on Katie to handle single or multi-claimant abuse or molestation claims, including those involving health care and correctional facilities, educational or extracurricular/athletic institutions, and the hospitality industry, throughout the United States. She also represents and defends insurance companies in high-profile matters involving mass tort and sexual abuse or trafficking.

In addition to providing post-claim advices to clients, Katie counsels on effective claims handling practices, risk management and avoidance procedures, and provides underwriting assistance for manuscript policy language. With a reach well beyond Louisiana, both the litigation and counseling sides of Katie’s practice involve attorneys from all of Phelps’ Gulf South offices and, as necessary, local counsel throughout the country.

Katie chairs the Recruitment Committee for the firm’s New Orleans office. She also chairs Phelps' Associate Development Committee and serves on its Innovation Committee.
