Loden Walker
Associate
Loden Walker is an associate in the Jackson office of Phelps. He is a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment and Appellate Practice Groups.
Loden focuses his practice at both the appellate and trial level on the strategy, briefing and argument of complex legal issues in a variety of subject-matter areas, including constitutional law. He represents public- and private- sector employers and has significant experience advising and defending employers on a broad range of employment issues. Super Lawyers selected Loden as a Mid-South Rising Star.
Before joining Phelps, Loden clerked for the Honorable Cory T. Wilson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He also served as Editor in Chief of the Mississippi College Law Review while in law school.
Loden is a member of the Mississippi bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi.
Experience
- Served as second chair in federal jury trial, securing a complete defense verdict in favor of a physicians’ group on antitrust and noncompete claims.
- Participated on Supreme Court team, contributing to research, briefing and oral argument strategy in a civil rights case before the U.S. Supreme Court.
- Persuaded the Fifth Circuit to reverse and remand on interlocutory appeal in a case involving Title VII and Mississippi state-law claims.
- Won Fifth Circuit affirmance on claims involving alleged violations of the Fourth, Eighth and 14th Amendments.
- Authored briefing before the Mississippi Supreme Court on novel issues certified from the Fifth Circuit.
- Drafted briefs pending before the Mississippi Court of Appeals on behalf of a school board involving Mississippi state-law issues.
- Obtained summary judgment in the Southern District of Mississippi on behalf of municipality involving alleged violations of the First Amendment.
