Michael Held is just as comfortable standing on the deck of an ocean-going vessel as he is arguing a motion in a courtroom. From investigation to counsel, he works with clients in the maritime field so they can move past their legal issues and get back to their business. An aggressive competitor in court, Michael strives to reassure clients that they are being taken care of.
Michael has litigated cases in all areas of maritime law, representing owners, charterers and/or underwriters in defense of personal injury claims, both blue and brown water, and cargo claims, as well as handling wreck removal, environmental, collision, Customs and Coast Guard matters.
Experience
- Represented vessel owners, charterers and numerous P & I Clubs.
- Counseled insurers regarding coverage opinions and defense litigation including matters involving liability, property (including fire claims), professional liability, and lender/force-placed insurance.
- Defended transportation clients, casinos, municipalities, and public entities in property damage, personal injury, and wrongful death litigation.
- Represented clients in matters involving Medicare Secondary Payer Act issues.
- Advised commercial entities in contract disputes and collection matters.
